ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
SMS is committed to the protection of the environment and the prevention of pollution to achieve:
- Strictly enforces compliance with international conventions and local laws. Encourages continual improvement of its environmental management system by setting, measuring and reviewing objectives above and beyond minimum compliance criteria.
- Recognizes environmental protection as a critical responsibility of all those within the SMS community.
- Supports the use of environmentally safe materials, products, equipment and practices to reduce or eliminate the generation of waste garbage and hazardous by-products and the depletion of natural resources.
- Provides its personnel with the necessary tools to fulfil their responsibilities, promoting environmental awareness including assessment, training, shore-based access and support.
